About Me

Name: Mary Seif

Gender: Female

Age: 23 (August 5th, 1988)

Location/Timezone: Seattle, Washington (PST)

Real Life Distractions: I have three very large and very demanding dogs that may require my attention at any time. They also have a tendency to get in trouble and rack up large vet bills that are very stressful. I'm currently searching for a job and that also takes up some of my time. Family issues are also at play here. So if I am not online/not active, chances are it's for one of these reasons!

When Am I Online: Randomly! As I don't have a job right now and my sleeping schedule is erratic, I am logged onto various IM programs most of the day. I tend to constantly check my RP sites with or without intent to post. If I am not online, I am probably asleep or out job-hunting.

Time RPing: A little over 4 years now

Some Stuff About Me: HAI THAR!

I am a 4' 11'' , brown-eyed, 23-year-old smartass girl. I tend to be pretty friendly and light hearted and will try and make friends with anyone who's interested. I swear a whole lot, and not just when I'm angry but I don't even really notice I'm doing it until people point it out. I am also kind of a hermit.

I tend to be a very outspoken and opinionated person. I share my views on things freely whether or not I'm asked to. And I can be a little on the loud side without meaning to be. I love to talk to just about anyone about just about anything, although certain topics are liable to incite a spirited rant. Examples would be anything related to the Twilight series, religion, or homophobia. I will politely excuse myself from these subjects if I think that my opinion will not appreciated, or I am sure that I would be a bit too adamant in making sure my point of view is known. I don't like upsetting people, even by accident.

I started RPing back in….2007? I think? Yeah.

I started by doing a casual search on FF.net back in 2007 and being pleasantly surprised when I found actual FANFICTION! I grew up on DRoP and had tried to dabble into the fandom before but found out via an artist I kept tabs on that Anne Maccaffrey was a cold, uncaring nazi to her fans. I watched a ton of drama go down where she sicced her lawyers on Dee Dreslough and threatened to do the same to anyone who dared to post fanart or fanfiction outside of maybe two or three approved PBeM's. Sooooo needless to say I was confused but excited when I saw that her ban on fan content had been lifted and I was now free to play about in her universe.

My first foray into fanfiction was an UTTER DISASTER. I don't blame people for not liking it; it was terrible. But I had one particularly nasty reviewer who offered no constructive criticism and only hate. So that turned me off of the fandom again.

A couple months later, I joined DA and discovered fanart there. Via the links in the descriptions of said fanart, I discovered RP boards and was intrigued. The first board I looked at was Evergen, but the site was too big and the person I talked to in the box was rather rude to me. So I started exploring the links at the bottom of the site and discovered Crescent Weyr. At the time, the idea of non-canon dragons excited me so that was the Weyr I choose to start my RPing in.

I was retardedly shy.

If it hadn't been for Caliphone encouraging me (actually she was the first person to respond to my first thread - even when I hadn't been approved yet…oops) I probably wouldn't have continued. I was very self conscious about my writing. Crescent turned out to do wonders for my confidence and I met some pretty damn awesome people there, as well as Cali who remains my best friend. From there I branched out into several spin-off Weyrs, which didn't end nearly as well but I retain many of the friends I made at Crescent/Aerten to this day. I miss Crescent ALOT sometimes. It has a lot of nostalgia value to me and I'm glad I managed to save some of my threads there before it was purged.

I kind of dropped off the face of RP for about two years due to needing a break from the same circles of drama I’d been floating around with for a few years. The break did me a lot of good and I’d like to think I’ve grown up quite a bit. It’s a bit like starting all over again for me to even look at a Pern Board so I’m excited to get back in there.

And yeah that's pretty much it.

General Likes: Let's see, I love anything that has to do with dragons…and I love anime although I'm no longer a little hyper fangirl. I've turned back into the bookworm that I was in High School and I generally manage at least a book or two a week when I have the chance. I LOVE David Eddings, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, Joanne Bertin, and Merecedes Lackey. Generally anything with a dragon in it is garunteed to get me to read it.

I love playing video games. I own all of the new generation systems as well as many of the old ones and the handhelds. I tend to enjoy RPGs more than anything, but I also am rather enamored with Heavy Rain and things like God of War and Ratchet and Clank. I may no longer spend nearly as much time playing them as I used to, but gaming is still a definite part of my life.

I LOVE MUSIC. My more frequent obsessions include The Senate, Owl City, and The Paperboys. With the exception of bad rap and hip-hop and horrible pop songs, I will listen to almost anything. I can say with pride that I have gotten the chance to see Eric Clapton, Elton John, and Billy Joel live. Among many other bands, most of them at Bumbershoot. My taste in music really varies depending on my mood. In the early morning I listen to loud obnoxious music to keep myself awake. And in the evenings I prefer more mellow music such as The Senate or Clapton to help me unwind and relax.

I also like reading about other people's drama. Call me shallow, but it amuses me.

General Dislikes: I hate Twilight. I hate homophobia. When it comes to pern, I tend to STEER WAY CLEAR of sexuality debates because I always end up making an ass of myself somehow. I also hate talking about religion with religious people so if you believe in god, keep in mind that I am very much Agnostic (leaning heavily towards Atheism lately) and will probably offend you with my beliefs. I respect yours as long as you keep them to yourself.
